Apple giving retail employees a $1,000 bonus ahead of the iPhone 13 launch and holiday season

Apple Store employees are set to get a rare companywide bonus this fall. Apple Store employees who are with Apple since March 2021 will receive $1,000, and those who joined recently will receive a $500 bonus.
The news was first reported by Bloomberg, while 9to5Mac has also independently heard the same thing from sources familiar with Apple’s plans. Apple Store employees are not the only ones who will receive bonuses. AppleCare staff and employees in online sales also get bonuses.
Bloomberg points out that Apple rarely gives companywide bonuses such as this one:
The bonuses will be an unusual perk since Apple rarely gives companywide payouts. In 2018, $2,500 was spent on restricted stock units. The bonus came after Apple made tax-related changes, which allowed it to get cash back from offshore accounts at lower costs. According to people, these bonuses will not be given as stock units but in cash.
Apple’s decision to give bonuses to its retail employees comes as companies face continued labor shortages. Apple is trying to keep its current employees happy as they head into the iPhone 13 launch and busy holiday season.
