ICC Cricket World Cup: Pakistan announced a 15-man lineup for the upcoming T20 WC. There are some surprises in the team, because veteran players like Shoaib Malik and Safaraz Ahmed were captains of Pakistan in T20 WCs in 2007 and 2016, but they did not have the opportunity to join the team. Babar Azam will lead the Pakistan team.
Pakistan will play their first match against India in the T20 World Cup scheduled to be held on October 24. In addition to India, Pakistan will also face New Zealand, Afghanistan and other qualifying teams in the World Cup group stage.

ICC has set a deadline of September 10 for all countries/regions to announce their teams for the 2021- T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman.
Pakistan has a great edge in UAE because it’s also known as home ground for Pakistan team.

On the other hand Misbah and Waqar step down from coaching roles

- Misbah: Considering that I would have had to continue to spend considerable time away from my family in a bio-secure environment, I have decided to step down from the role
- Waqar: After Misbah shared with me his decision and future plans, it was a straightforward one for me to resign as we had walked into the roles together, had worked as a pair and now also step down together
- Saqlain Mushtaq and Abdul Razzaq join team management as interim coaches for the New Zealand series
