Delhi weather: IMD forecasts mild rain today

India Meteorological Department predicts mild rainfall for Delhi and surrounding areas Friday.

Temperatures will likely drop with the max temperature at 32 degrees Celsius expected and the minimum at 26. Thursday’s maximum temperature reached 34 degrees Celsius.

The relative humidity on Friday at 8.30am was 82%

IMD predicts that Delhi will experience a wet weekend with moderate rains on Saturday and Sunday. Rainfall between 15.6 mm and 64.4 mm is categorised as ‘moderate.’

Rain fell in parts of the city early Friday morning. Palam Observatory of the IMD recorded 17.2mm of rain between 2.30am and 5.30am on Friday. While the Safdarjung Weather Station recorded only 0.2mm in the same period. From 8.30 on Thursday, the Safdarjung observatory measured around 5 mm in rainfall within 24 hours.

The forecast for rain continues until September 14.

The amount of rain Delhi received this month is more than the average for this time period. Although the rains have been a record 129.1 mm since September 9, it is still below the average of 56.8 mm.
